Alright, this stems from watching SNL last night, U2 was on it:
1) I am so tired of listening to people diss U2 and Bono. People seem to think they are just hogging all the attention, which I would have to completely disagree. There is a reason why this band has been around for 25 years (longer than Elvis). This is because they have passion, energy and commitment for their music, and genuine love for each other and their fans. They don't back down and stick to their beliefs.
Their lyrics have what a certain Professor called "applicability". They could be writing about God, their mom, a lover, you just don't know which makes their songs so great. Anybody can listen to them and appreciate them, the same way people can read Tolkien and insert their own beliefs. I believe this is a mark of a great artist. The band's and U2's dedication to charity is intensely admirable and not another tactic to win fame. People disparagingly say "Bono singlehandedly wants to change the world!" GOOD! At least SOMEBODY wants to, has the means to, and is TRYING!!!!!
Now, watching SNL last night, I fell in love with Bono and his bandmates all over again. Coming back after 4 years with the explosive "Vertigo" (which is now #1 in Europe, pulling ahead of Eminem), they have been estatically recieved which just shows how much people love them, no matter what decade. Bono went out into the crowd (area in front of the stage) followed by the Edge and Adam. Even in the SNL studio, they try to connect with their audience. Bono hugged one of the SNL cast, and she was in tears. That says something very powerful to me, that Bono just TOUCHING someone can reduce someone to crying.
The next person who disses U2/Bono better have a fucking good argument for doing so because I'm not going to take anybody putting them down in front of me without one.
2) In the vein of putting down U2 despite their amazing talent, I want to talk about people's ablility. (Thinking about this before I went to sleep last night) I believe that everyone has their own personal talent, a reason if you will, for being on this earth. Sometimes they have several, i.e. U2 and their charitable work and amazing singing (and their families obviously).
I believe that when these people's talents are disregarded, that's when we get the Hitlers of the world. Think about Hitler himself; he was an artist and got rejected from art school. Could it be that if he had been accepted we wouldn't have had a WWII?
I believe that one of the main things people want in life is for their talent to be recognized and appreciated. When we say things like "I hate people" this totally disregards everything good people all around the world are trying to do to better the world for themselves and for humanity. People want to be understood and loved.
I believe that people are inately good. When their talent is rejected, they withdraw inside themselves and eventually resent the "rejector" and possibly all humans. Resent leads to hate, and then to violence. (I sound like Yoda, hahaha...)
We need to learn to appreciate other people and their contributions to this world. So the next time your mom/dad cooks dinner for you, show them that you like it. The next time your younger sibling shows you a drawing they've done at school, praise them. The next time your friend wants to talk (be you a guy or a girl) listen to them. You don't have to offer advice, sometimes people just want to talk. They want their thoughts to be appreciated.

So right now I'm listening to "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" by U2 and YES it is a new song off of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. *So Excited* Randomly this one guy who found my blog sent me the song cuz he downloaded it, and I love it. Absolutely love it. It's very beautiful. Apparently Bono sang it at his Dad's funeral. If anyone wants it I'll email it to them. Don't worry, I'm definitely buying the CD. Wild boars couldn't stop me!
Anywho...My day...
I had a paper due today, I finished it about 10 minutes before class started. ;-D
We were going over our papers and mine mentions Dante. Listen to this: One girl was like "Who is Dante"? That wouldn't be so bad if she didn't have ITALIAN class the period before... The ignorance of people!! And somehow we got to talking about paganism, and someone was like "there are still pagans"? *SMACK*
What else...I don't think I've mentioned that I'm for sure moving back home next semester. On one hand YAY! On the other, booo... Mostly because I've just started to get to know people at school and just started to get settled. On the bright side, I won't have to put up with Kyle. And I'll actually have MONEY! YAY! So maybe San Diego is an option after all!!!!!!! Bob Barker, HERE I COME!
I had a good talk with my auntie today...What else? I spend wayyyyyy too much time on MT. I can't help it, it's addictive. In some ways it's like my home away from home... Anywho, that's about it. Mood: I don't really know actually...
What a strange day... First I am driving to school. I was at a stop sign, and right in front of the car ahead of me a car accident happened. Just BAM! out of nowhere. It was freaky. (Luckily no one was hurt.) And then I get to school, czech my e-mail and find out my high school Italian teacher died (Signora Broccardo) yesterday. Those of you that know me know all about that thing...Anywho I was floored. I couldn't move. So I think I'm going to the funeral later this week. And then I get home, my uncle has the TV on with breaking news. There's a HUGE building fire going on right now in Grand Rapids... Weird, eh?
And if that's not weird enough, last night (for the first time in a while) Lower Michigan was able to see the Northern Lights. At the same time Signora Broccardo died. I believe that they were shining for her.

Actually, I never really get frantic. But I would be if I did because of all the crap I've got to do for shcool! Lesse, 1st draft of Language Paper due tomorrow, history test Friday, history book to read, history paper to write, 2 Spanish projects (powerpoint presentation and another written project), Spanish homework, annotated bibliography for Gender Studies due Thursday...There's probably more but I can't think of it right now...

Anywho, so that's pretty much the update. Lot of work and so little time. About the Josh thing: I'm not going to pursue it. What's the point if you have to debate with yourself about getting ahold of him? He's obviously not going to give up smoking and as everyone who knows me knows: I CAN'T STAND SMOKING! I would actually prefer his pot smoking to his cig smoking. But I honestly can't deal with both. I can't handle watching people kill themselves. However, this weekend is bound to be fun! Rachel invited me up to Central for their h/c game. And then she's having a Halloween party. W00T! And Renee's coming up the weekend after that! YAY! Whole weekend with mah Pipster! *LICK* Oh, and I'm voting for Nader. If Nader's not on the ballot, I'm voting for Bono!

I think I'm pretty much moving back home next semester...In later news, yesterday I went to Shipshewana Indiana to this Amish restaurant where they serve "family style" meals. Basically you can order and order and order until you explode. Only, you can't take food home. My aunt ordered me more drumsticks when I went to the bathroom and I was already stuffed. So of course, I felt bad for the Hondurans and I ate more drumsticks. Then we got dessert. Needless to say, I was NOT feeling too good yesterday and had to make frequent pit stops at Mickey D's on the way home. Blech... You'll all be glad to know that I feel much better today. :-D
I was kind of mad at my uncle yesterday when we got home. I popped in "Bend It Like Beckham" and he comes upstairs takes one look at the screen and says "Damn Ay-rabs." I was fuming inside. I icily inquired "You're joking, right?" He goes "Yeah, I'm just joking." I was like "First of all, they are Indian. Second of all I can't stand stereotypes." He was like "I was just kidding." I was like "I hope so..." In my humble opinion, you just don't joke about that kind of stuff. I am still a little pissed.
On a lighter note here's a European joke I appershate:

Mood: CRAPPY!!
OMG, do I have a story for you all. Yesterday I went with my family and my friend Ken to the "Red Flannel Festival" in my town. You have to wear red, and if you don't, you get "arrested." So, naturally Ken and Kyle spent the whole time trying to get me arrested. But I am so elusive...HAHAHAHAHAhA!!! As hillbillyish as it sounds, it was pretty fun. After we just hung out and I finally saw Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (Funny!!!) and at night I had to drive Ken back to his dorm, he goes to the same school I do. I commute. Anyways, we are on the expressway and I hear a "BING BING BING BING CLUNK" sound, so I am pulling over to the shoulder and Ken's yelling "IT'S JUST THE ROAD!!! THAT'S NOT YOUR CAR!! IT'S JUST THE ROAD!!" But I pull over anyways. My left front tire was COMPLETELY flat and I didn't have a spare. So, luckily I had a cell phone and I called my uncle and asked him to come. He took forever and it was FREEZING cold. While we were waiting I had a really good conversation with Ken and I found out a lot of things about him...Anyways, my uncle and my cousin Kyle FINALLY came and my uncle asked me to start up my car. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. It's like 10:30 at night and freezing cold. I was about to shoot somebody. So we had to go all the way back home to get some more supplies. The problem was, there were only 3 seats in my uncle's truck. Someone was going to have to ride in the back. I felt so bad for my cousin...;-D My uncle called the state police to find out if he could leave the car there until the next day at least. They told him that it was parked so close to the expressway that they would tow it. Anyways so we get the supplies, drive back, and they ask me for my keys. I had not thought to bring them...So we just drove Ken home and he let me sleep on his shoulder, he was really sweet. (THANK YOU KEN!!!) Then we went the freaking looooonnggg way home (1 hour) and I slept the entire way, I was way tired... Narrrhhhhhhh...So anyways my uncle and my cousin went back to the car and I guess they at least semi-fixed it because it's in the driveway right now. I have not had a chance to talk to them because it's 8 in the morning and I went to bed at 2:30. D*MN MY INTERNAL CLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *so tiiiiirrrreeeedddd* Want...to...sleep...but...can't...GAH!! So...much...homework...

(J/K) I was bad, I bought clothes. LMAO!! I bought Jilly-Billy undies that had Peppe Le Pew on them and said on the butt "Love is Blind...No?" HAHAHAHAHA! Em, what else...Jillian knocked over like 3 clothes racks.
I think my cousin Kyle is going to go Columbine on my ass because I wrote him a note telling him to lighten up because he has a really good life. I told him that a bad life is when you have to eat toothpaste because you have no food. I also told him that he is not as mature and experienced in life as he thinks he is. ;-D I'll let ya'all know how it goes, if I'm still breathing.

::I want to make a place of learning where the main issue is helping people, and making the world a better place. Not a substitution for conventional learning centers, more of a suppliment. We would probably start in Michigan, because that's where I am from. Katez and I would be partners, and we have all these ideas on how to make it work. Here's the basic plan:
"We wish to open a school of thought open to everyone where we meet for 2 months at a time. An interest seminar would be held a month before the beginning of each session. The concentration would be entirely up to the students, but the focus would be on thinking of ideas to change something about the world and the weekends would be spent in executing the ideas discussed during the week. Other interests in learning would be explored, researched and discussed as desired by the students. The teachers would also be students, based on the Socratic principles of seminar, where everyone has a voice and knowledge to offer."

::I had a really fun time on Saturday with my cousin Bridget. She had to announce the floats in the Grand Rapids Patriot Day Parade. I went along to keep her company, but I ended up having a job, lol. ALL of the floats were out of order, that is, the order that was on Bridget's script. Everyone want to hear my lost wallet story? Here goes. So yesterday I had planned to meet up with Jillian for lunch on campus. I go and get a smoothie and a slice of pizza and head up to the register. While digging through my wallet, I realized that, well, I didn't have my wallet. I FREAKED! I'm like "Jillian, WTF do I do?!?!?!" She's like "I dunno..." Thanks, bud. So I drop my drink and pizza on some counter and run out of there like someone who runs fast. All in all, I think I handled it pretty well. ;-D So we went to my car, like a zillion miles away from the cafe, and it's not in there...We both go to our next classes and I e-mail my dad and he tells me that "mom said they found it." Those words exactly, and only those words. GAH! How does he know and I don't. Well, it turns out that my wallet fell out of my purse somehow (?) and a girl picked it up and turned it in to the school. So I picked it up today...My loverly Tinkerbell wallet is safe in my possesion once more!! YAY!

It rocked to finally hear from her! I was more or less going crazy not hearing from her...
